“Don’t ever change for anyone”?

I see so many posts in blogs and journals that appear to attempt to convey some ‘wisdom’ by predicating the (seemingly vox populi) idea that is “do not change for anyone.” It is, to a degree, valid (in my opinion), but I can’t be but terrified of how literally people seem to interpret it nowadays. These things require not to change one’s character traits, but rather to improve some flaws in them, to be a better person. It is actually, when you find someone, that (according to your best criteria) makes you that better person, for whom you want to yield this, that you know it’s worthwhile, so do change.
